Krief lodge serves as a vital destination for international conservationists seeking the critically endangered Giant Ibis and White-shouldered Ibis. Owned and operated by the local community, the existing structures required a comprehensive upgrade to meet international hospitality standards and reduce maintenance challenges.

The Challenge & Solution

Our mandate was to modernize the lodges by enhancing spatial functionality and introducing essential utilities previously absent from the site. Adopting a "resource-first" approach, we prioritized the repurposing of existing materials to align with strict budgetary requirements. The resulting design is a study in functional minimalism: simple, neat, and highly efficient spaces that honor the local environment while providing a premium guest experience.
